It’s Safety Tip Tuesday! When working at heights, having secure anchor points is a critical component of fall protection systems, as mandated by OSHA. According to OSHA 29 CFR 1926.502(d)(15), anchor points must be capable of supporting at least 5,000 pounds per employee attached or must be designed, installed, and used under the supervision of a qualified person as part of a complete fall protection system maintaining a safety factor of at least two. Anchor points should be structurally sound, positioned to minimize free fall distances, and regularly inspected for wear, corrosion, or other potential hazards. Proper selection and use of anchor points are crucial in preventing serious injuries or fatalities, making compliance with OSHA’s guidelines essential for workplace safety.
