Safety Tip Tuesday: Storing Compressed Gas Cylinders

It’s Safety Tip Tuesday! When storing compressed gas cylinders on a commercial jobsite, OSHA has strict requirements to ensure safety and prevent hazardous incidents. According to OSHA standard 29 CFR 1926.350, cylinders must be stored upright and secured to prevent tipping, falling, or rolling. They should be kept away from heat sources, electrical circuits, and flammable materials, with a minimum separation of 20 feet between oxygen and fuel gas cylinders, or a noncombustible barrier at least 5 feet high. Valve protection caps must be in place when cylinders are not in use, and cylinders should be clearly labeled and kept in well-ventilated areas. Following these guidelines not only helps maintain a safe jobsite but also ensures compliance during inspections. Call Bailey Safety for any questions regarding your safety program. 502-727-0781
